Halifax County is designated as a Tier 1 County by the Department of Commerce, and so qualifies for the highest level of state incentives available. It also is designated as an Urban Progress Zone by the Department of Commerce, qualifying certain census tracts within the city limits for an enhanced level of state incentives.
